Inspired by the beauty of Kiskeya/Haiti

Kiskeya was among the three Taíno names used to refer to the land that is currently recognized as Haiti. “Ayiti” meant “land of the high mountains,” “Bohio” meant “home,” and “Kiskeya” meant “large landmass.” During the colonial period, the island went through several name changes. After gaining independence in 1804, the nation reverted to one of its original indigenous names and became known as Ayiti or Haiti.

Our Story

Kayam was founded in 2022 by friends Enyse Charles and Sly Toussaint. Enyse, a fashion designer born in Haiti, channels her roots through fashion, while Sly is the founder of Centre Toussaint, a cultural center dedicated to teaching Haitian culture through various classes. Together, they bring a uniquely directional and deeply personal approach to fashion that celebrates the richness and diversity of Haitian culture.

Enyse and Sly are committed to bringing a fresh and innovative perspective on Haitian culture and are driven to reinvent Haitian classics through their brand. Their goal is to showcase the beauty of Haitian designs in the mainstream fashion world and breathe new life into them. Each piece in their collection is meticulously designed to be wearable and complement the personal style of their customers.
